Arts for All

Goal: $2,500.00

Specific Need

A majority of Arts for All's funding comes from proceeds of our annual spring musical.  Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year's show, Seussical, Jr., has been postponed until it is safe to return our actors to the spotlight.  We have made a commitment to honor the contracts of our production team and have incurred other expenses; however, we will not see income for the foreseeable future.  Virtual activities are being planned to keep our artists engaged.  We ask for your support of our program through your Give Choose donation.

The mission of Arts for All is to create an environment in which all people, with and without disabilities, can come together in an inclusive environment to learn, participate in and enjoy the arts.  No individual is ever turned away based on inability to pay the nominal registration fees.

The organization implemented this mission by working to improve lives via a fully inclusive visual and performing arts program that provides discovery opportunities in the arts. Participating artists act, sing, dance, draw, paint, and create side by side with people of all ages and abilities. The focus is placed on each participant’s ability, their strengths and gifts, and using the arts to develop their creative talents. Unlike school or community theater productions, every person who auditions for our theater production makes the show and is cast in a role that reflects their unique talent and ability.  Similarly, every person who expresses a desire to produce visual art is encouraged, instructed, and nurtured through the DaVinci Studio program to  his or her own personal best. Since its inception in 1989, Arts for All Loudoun has served more than 400 artists. In 2018-2019, 78 percent of our participants have identified as disabled, diagnosed with challenges including Down’s Syndrome, Williams Syndrome, Pervasive Developmental Delay,  Autism, Cerebral Palsy, intellectual and mobility challenges.  The trained staff members within our visual and performing arts programs find the unique talent within each participant, nurture it and watch as each artist achieves personal goals and gains self-confidence that carries into their lives. We see improvements in social skills, communication skills, eye contact, decision-making, collaboration and focus. We are currently serving individuals from ages 8 to 50 years old. There are several facets to the organization - a theater program, a visual arts program (DaVinci Studio), summer socials, workshops and opportunities.

VSA - Loudoun was founded in 1989 under the umbrella of the national VSA (Very Special Arts) program created by Ambassador Jean Kennedy Smith in 1974. Registered as Arts for All, Inc., the organization is a 501c3 non-profit .
