ECHO

Specific Need

Due to the recent fears of the COVID-19 virus spreading, and the advisories to “shelter in place,” the number of participants in our program has been reduced dramatically.  Unfortunately, ECHO’s funding has been negatively impacted, due to billing reimbursements which are based solely upon headcount. Meanwhile our operating expenses and overhead have remained largely unchanged.

Thankfully, the Rotary Club of Dulles International Airport (www.dullesairportrotary.org) has generously pledged to match Give Choose donations up to $10,000 to support men and women with disabilities. This Challenge Gift will double your impact so please extend your generosity by scheduling your Give Choose gift today.

Mission

ECHO's mission is to empower individuals with disabilities to achieve their optimal level of personal, social and economic success.

Profile

In 1975, ECHO started as a dream for families to have a safe and supportive environment for their loved ones with disabilities to spend their time during the day.  Forty-five years later, today ECHO is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that offers lifelong support for adults with disabilities. We provide skill building, job placement, day support and transportation. Our services empower individuals to be active members of the community. We build confidence in those we serve and assure each individual has the needed support to reach their maximum potential.

Imagine you are disabled, and that every day, even during the recent COVID-19 crisis, you’ve had a safe, clean and productive place to go. This place (ECHO) picked you up at your home, brought you to a place of employment or to its facility for training or day support. WHAT IF THAT “SAFE PLACE” DISAPPEARED? Due to COVID-19 fears the number of participants in our program has been reduced dramatically. WE NEED YOUR HELP…TO HELP THOSE MOST IMPACTED.

  • ECHO maintains a transportation fleet:
    • Getting to work and services is a huge barrier for people with disabilities.
  • ECHO operates an employment program:
    • People with disabilities experience the dignity of a paycheck.
    • Employers experience the work ethic and dedication our workforce brings.
  • ECHO operates a Day Support Program:
    • For practicing life skills and community integration.
  • ECHO provides care for people with significant medical needs.
    • We have a nursing staff for our most medically challenged participants.
  • ECHO operates the ECHO Academy and ECHO Assessment Center:
    • A structured assessment and teaching environment for people with disabilities.
  • ECHO delivers Person-Centered support and care.
    • We recognize the uniqueness and worth of everyone we serve.

Please consider making an emergency contribution to ECHO to help us meet our on-going operational needs as we weather this temporary setback.

Timing is critical so please don’t delay. When the scare of the virus is gone, the Community needs to have ECHO here to continue our important work. We can’t do it without you!

If you have any questions, feel free to contact ECHO at 571.707.8249 and speak with Robert Pizzimenti, Director of Development.

Thank you.
