INMED USA

Goal: $6,000.00

Specific Need

  • $25 can provide 1 at-risk child with nutritious snacks for 1 week during the COVID-19 lockdown.
  • $50 can provide hygiene products and cleaning supplies to 4 families.
  • $100 can provide diapers and formula for 1 family in our Healthy Families Loudoun program for 1 month.
  • $250 can provide emergency assistance to families struggling to pay rent, utilities or other essentials to prevent homelessness.
  • $500 can help purchase computers and WiFi access to bridge the digital divide for low-income families.

Mission

INMED Partnerships for Children has been building pathways for vulnerable children and families to achieve well-being and self-reliance in Loudoun since 1994. Our programs are delivered via our Opportunity Community to provide a continuum of care and support from the prenatal period through adulthood via home visiting services and programs for at-risk adults and children at our Family & Youth Opportunity Center in Sterling.

Profile

During the coronavirus pandemic, the number of families in need INMED USA serves at our Opportunity Center has skyrocketed from 150 per week to more than 500.

Facing unemployment and evaporating resources, vulnerable families need our support more than ever to obtain the basic essentials for survival. Thanks to our community partners, we've seen a steady stream of donations—from diapers and formula to personal hygiene products and nonperishable food that we're offering for curbside pickup at our Opportunity Center. But we can barely supply the demand.

Ensuring that our after-school students don't fall further behind the achievement curve, our after-school academic enrichment team has been distributing personalized for our students. These creative kits are especially important for children who don't yet have access to a home computer or WiFi from Loudoun County Public Schools. But our supplies are dwindling.

During this global shutdown, it's more critical than ever to make sure our most vulnerable neighbors don't fall through the cracks--getting the assistance they need to not only survive this crisis, but also to thrive in the months that follow through our programs and services, which include:

  • STEM-focused fter-school academic enrichment and summer day camps for at-risk elementary school students;
  • Healthy Families Loudoun home program to prevent child abuse and strengthen family units;
  • Spanish-language parent education and support groups that are open to the community, addressing topics such as housing, financial literacy, parenting, children's health, acculturation and family violence prevention;
  • Workforce development resources, including entrepreneurial workshops and job fairs to develop opportunities for unemployed and under-employed individuals within the local community.

INMED's Aquaponics Education Center at Paxton Campus in Leesburg--coming soon--will offer skills development and vocational training to youth with physical, mental and economic needs, as well as those who don’t adapt well to traditional classroom environments.
