Loudoun Community Cat Coalition

Goal: $10,000.00

Specific Need

Our specific need is to raise funds to spay neuter, vaccinate, microchip, and provide vet care for community cats and to rescue kittens born outdoors in the wild.

Our goal is to humanely reduce the population of outdoor cats while improving the health and welfare of community cats, and reducing the number of cats being brought to the animal shelter. We have innovative programs for TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return), community cat caregiver training, and kitten rescue, socialization, and adoption.

Help us fund three annual spay/neuter clinics at Leesburg Veterinary Hospital and Hoof and Paw Vets where we provide our community cat care spay/neuter package for up to 75 stray and feral cats in one day! The community cat care package provides spay/neuter surgery, rabies and feline distemper vaccinations, flea/tick/parasite treatment, treament for any acute medical conditions, a mcrochip, and an ear-tip so everybody can see that the cat is fixed and has a caregiver.

Great news! A generous cat-lover has offered a $2,000 challenge for Give Choose 2020! Your donations will help us meet the challenge to unlock the $2000 and help meet our goal of raising $10,000! That translates to spay/neuter for 200 community cats!

A $50 donation will provide our community cat care package at one of our FixMe TNR clinics!

A $100 donation will feed a colony of community cats for a month!

A $250 donation will sponsor the foster and vet care for a kitten rescued from the wild!

A $500 donation will provide our community cat care package for a colony of 10 cats!

$1,000 will sponsor a Spay Day at one of our local partner vet hospitals to fix a colony of cats and provide vet care to keep them healthy!

$3,500 will sponsor one of our FixMe TNR clinics and provide our community cat care package for up to 75 community cats!

Mission

To engage and empower our community to save the lives of community cats.

Profile

Loudoun Community Cat Coalition volunteers work to ensure that all community cats (cats who live outdoors and are cared for by our community) are spayed or neutered to humanely reduce the overall population by preventing kittens from being born outdoors in the wild. We also respond to emergency calls to trap community cats who are injured or need medical attention so they do not suffer. When tiny kittens are born oudoors we rescue them, bring them in for veterinary attention, and provide them with love and care through our Kitten Rescue foster program until they are adopted into a forever home.

We work as a Coalition, collaborating with other organizations and businesses to come up with humane, innovative, and effective solutions that not only save the lives of community cats and kittens, but provide resources and training for caregivers to be self-sufficient in providing quality care for their community cats. Our goal is to create more sustainable solutions with your help.

We organize and fund mass TNR spay/neuter clinics as part of our Fix Me program, with a goal of 75-100 cats fixed at each clinic.

We have so far sponsored 23 mass spay/neuter clinics to date and we have spayed, vaccinated, micro chipped and provided needed medical attention to 2560 cats.

Cats who need immediate attention are handled through our Fix Me Now program where we partner with local veterinarians to provide medical attention as needed, and/or the community cat care package at their vet hospitals during normal business hours.

We strive to put the power of saving lives in the hands and hearts of our community by offering community meetings to educate people about community cats, and hands-on workshops to training caregivers or rescuers to trap and properly care for community cats while helping reduce the overall population through our humane TNR and Kitten Rescue programs.

Our newest initiative is "Spay Days" at local Vet Hospitals where a partner Vet provides our community cat care package for up to 10 cats once a month on a regular business day. It really helps maintain momentum when trying to "close out" targeted geographic areas where we are employing TNR strategies to rapidly reduce population growth through spay/neuter. Thank you Happy Tails Animal Hospital -  our first Spay Day partner!
