Save the Tails Rescue Group

Goal: $2,000.00

Specific Need

We desperately need your donations to keep running. Dogs who remain in isolated shelters will never find homes so we bring them here to Loudoun county where they will and dofind homes. Many dogs need a little extra help, expensive medical and training costs exceed our adoption fees (standard for any rescue). Please help us set them up for a lifetime of happiness by donating.

Mission

Our mission is to save as many shelter dogs as we can. We are a foster based, all-breed dog rescue. We pull dogs from isolated, overcrowded shelters and work with the Loudoun/Fauquier communities to find them forever homes. Chances are you know someone who has adopted from us. Right now shelters are full of hopeful dogs in hopeless situations. Help us save these scared, lonely, wonderful dogs. Your donations WILL get them out of shelters and make some local adoptive families very happy.

Profile

We are Save the Tails, a nonprofit dog rescue located in Loudoun county, Virginia. We are asking for your donations. Why? Let us show you some sobering statistics:

• Approximately 3.9 million dogs enter US shelters yearly.

• Approximately 1.2 million dogs are euthanized for lack of space.

• Every 10 SECONDS, a dog or cat is put down at a shelter.

What do your donations mean? For a shelter dog, getting a placement at Save the Tails is like winning the lottery. No more cold, lonely cages. No more fear or uncertainty. They are placed into foster homes where we care for their medical needs and give them the love they so desperately desire until we can find them the perfect forever home. We rarely have kennel fees. All of your donation dollars goes into saving dogs.

Where do the dogs come from? Our dogs come from overcrowded shelters where the population cannot support their numbers. We pull dogs from rural areas of Virginia, West Virginia and sometimes more populated ares like Baltimore. We work with their shelters to transport them to us.

What about medical expenses? Sometimes dogs arrive with medical issues; puppies with parvovirus, dogs with heart worm, rotten teeth, cherry eye, broken legs or other conditions needing medical attention. We heal them before sending them off to their forever homes. We also spay and neuter. As you can imagine, it gets expensive, but that is standard for any rescue.

How can there be so many homeless dogs? People don't spay and neuter their pets, and in many areas of the country there are no leash laws. Dogs are free to roam, and roam they do! Puppy mills also contribute to the problem through their mass production of dogs without caring about the consequences. For many of these dogs it's been a sad road before coming to Save the Tails. We've had dogs who've spent their whole lives on a chain; where their collars have become embedded in their necks. Some arrive just skin and bones. Others have been abandoned in homes or lost in the woods. We have found dogs nearly frozen in ditches. We even rescued an adorable puppy who was left to die in a dumpster. The list goes on and on. But once they come to us, their wagging tails and loving demeanors show their gratitude. For them, as well as us, it's like a dream come true, every single time. Help us continue to save homeless dogs. Please make a donation.

We have saved over 1000 dogs to date, help us save more. Save the Tails is a 501c(3) nonprofit. Your donations are tax-deductible and eligible for employer matching programs.
