Our doors opened October 2010 with 25 clients who would show up for Music Therapy and Counseling. Now, almost seven years later, A Place To Be provides services for over 350 families each week. We are based in Middleburg, Virginia and have satellite hubs at the Paxton Campus in Leesburg, INOVA Loudoun Hospital, and contracts in Loudoun and Fairfax County. To date, our signature touring production, The Same Sky Project , has been viewed by over 50,000 students and community members! Our highly qualified professional staff has expanded to 7 full-time and 7 part-time employees who make A Place To Be and our successful Individual Sessions, Social Groups, Recitals, and Summer Camps run smoothly every day. Our Board of Directors work endlessly to support our staff and create infrastructure for a sustaining, vibrant and inspiring business.
"I work at Mercer Middle School. We were privileged to see The Same Sky Project performance today. Best production that has come to our school in the 11 years we've been open! Y'all were amazing and wonderful. Thank you for sharing your stories, talents, and hard work!" -Sue Williams

"So I somehow need to describe to you the way it is for Sawyer and I on APTB days. Lately, he has been waking me up playing whatever playlist he designated for his favorite morning of the week. He's making his breakfast, getting ready, showing independence I wasn't sure I'd ever see. He's dancing his way out the door, literally, and starting my car for me. He wants to leave early because he likes to hit the gym before APTB because he's so pumped up for a great day. He packs a nice lunch, something interesting, that he can't wait to eat in a stress-free environment hanging out with some nice people that listen to him and engage him. Every time I have ever dropped Sawyer off at APTB he's been happy. Every time I pick him up he's happy. That's something I can count on weekly that helps our family tremendously. We are grateful beyond words." - Leah Foster

"You provide a wonderful service to folks who have been hurt in accidents or have physical limitations. I'm so happy there are places like this in our country. It is so uplifting to watch your documentary!" -Joyce Ellis

"Oh my gosh, my daughter just saw your Same Sky Project performance at Smarts Mill Middle School in Leesburg and can't stop talking about it! She said it inspired sooo many of her classmates!" -Kelly Zimmerman

"Well done! Music is such a powerful "voice" and your methods tap in to that for ALL students. What incredible programs you to help people!" -Lynn Lauterbach
