Bridle Paths

Goal: $3,000.00

Specific Need

We have a $1,500 Challenge Grant to raise up to $3,000 for client financial support!

Clients often struggle with the myriad costs of providing for individuals with special needs, including medical care and equipment, therapies, and educational requirements, and we work hard to keep our client fees affordable. Bridle Paths provides services to military families and trauma survivors at little to no cost.  It is our goal to serve clients regardless of their ability to pay.

A donation in any amount will make a difference.  Every contribution Bridle Paths receives goes directly to the support of our clients and our dedicated program horses.  Here are just a few examples of how you can help:

$100 will help us to purchase three new riding helmets.

$500 will provide two months of therapeutic horseback riding instruction for a child with special needs.

$1,000 will provide five equine-assisted psychotherapy sessions for a veteran or service member experiencing PTSD.

$5,000 will sponsor the care of one program horse for one year.

The mission of Bridle Paths is to offer strength, support, and healing to individuals and families through safe, effective, and high-quality equine-assisted activities and therapies.

Bridle Paths provides therapeutic horseback riding instruction, equine-assisted learning, and equine-assisted psychotherapy services to individuals and families faced with physical, cognitive, psychological, and emotional needs. Our staff holds licensure and national certifications in equine-assisted activities and therapies, with a particular focus on trauma.

It is our vision to sustain an environment and an opportunity for our clients to connect, communicate, and trust, in partnership with horses. We emphasize the cultivation of relationships and the provision of emotionally-attuned services. We take each client where he or she is, and work from there to develop competence, confidence, and resilience.  We help clients to cultivate skills and talents that are generalizable outside the barn environment, rather than identifying or limiting clients by diagnoses or labels.

In addition to weekly client sessions, we also offer:

  • Mounted and unmounted programs for veterans, service members, and their families
  • Mounted and unmounted programs for survivors of traumatic brain injury
  • Social and communications skills and relationship building programs in partnership with local schools
  • Equine-assisted team building for local corporations and nonprofits

Bridle Paths is an all-volunteer organization that offered more than 700 client sessions in 2018, supported by a team of 9 horses and more than 6,500 hours of volunteer service.

Bridle Paths is a proud member of the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce, the Loudoun County Equine Alliance, and the Virginia Horse Council.  Additionally, Bridle Paths is a member of the Therapeutic Riding Association of Virginia, the Professional Association for Therapeutic Horsemanship Intl. (PATH Intl.), and the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA), and our staff holds certifications from PATH Intl. and EAGALA.

Community support is essential to the continued vitality of the Bridle Paths program, and we are exceedingly grateful to those who share their time and treasure to enhance and expand our programs. Every dollar counts, and helps us to care for our exceptional program horses, fund our operating expenses, and enhance our innovative programs that foster connection and healing.
