Mission
A Place To Be creates community, belonging, and hope for individuals with disabilities, neurodivergence, or other medical or mental health challenges through music therapy, performance and the expressive arts.
Profile
What would the world be like if every person felt like they belonged? If every person, no matter their ability, could achieve their full potential? If every person had a place where they could find their voice and share their story?
At A Place To Be, we use music and the expressive arts to help people navigate life’s challenges, develop self-worth and identity beyond labels, gain skills for meaningful participation in the community, and build connections that strengthen their resilience and well-being.
This is how we do it:
- Individual Therapy: One-on-one clinical music therapy to support health and well-being, self-expression and personal growth.
- Group Therapy & Social Programs: Music- and arts-based therapy, enrichment sessions and summer day camps that build creativity and connection.
- Transitional Programs: Opportunities for older youth and young adults to develop life skills, confidence and independence through job training, leadership development and mentoring.
- Inclusive Theater & Community Performances: Collaborative productions that empower participants as writers, composers and performers and promote messages of empathy, resilience, inclusion and hope.
- Family & Caregiver Support: Clinical consultations, long-term planning, referrals to other resources, and social opportunities to join together with other families outside of therapy.
- Financial Aid: Ensuring that ability to pay is never a barrier to therapeutic services.
