LAWS Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Services

Goal: $60,000.00

Specific Need

A shelter facility emergency has displaced survivor families. Your Give Choose gift helps provide shelter and food today!

Thank you for visiting the LAWS Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services (LAWS) Give Choose page.

Today, we need our community more than ever!

Just last week, an unexpected leak at our domestic violence shelter revealed significant damage that made it unsafe for families to remain in the space. Survivors and their children had to be quickly relocated to alternative safe shelter in our community, creating urgent and unplanned expenses for housing and food, totaling approximately $30,000 each month and not covered by insurance, until repairs are complete and our shelter can resume normal operations.

At the same time, the need for services has not slowed. In fact, it continues to grow. With four months remaining in our fiscal year, LAWS has already provided advocacy to 740 adults and children, surpassing the total number served during all of last year. Our emergency shelter has already housed 130 adults and children, compared to 178 during all of the last fiscal year.

This is why your support is so critical today!

Double Your Impact

Our Give Choose goal this year is $60,000. Thanks to generous supporters, reaching that goal will unlock an additional $22,200 in matching funds.

At a time of unexpected housing, food, and repair costs, your support is more critical than ever.

Give today and help ensure survivors and children in Loudoun County have access to safety, advocacy, trauma informed therapy, legal services, the Loudoun Child Advocacy Center, and emergency shelter when they need it most.

Opening the Doors to Safety

Every day, survivors impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault turn to LAWS seeking safety, stability, and a path forward. Many arrive with children and are rebuilding their lives after trauma.

LAWS provides comprehensive support because survivors and children rarely need just one service. Safety and healing happen when multiple doors of support open at the same time.

This includes services for children served through the Loudoun Child Advocacy Center, where children impacted by child abuse, domestic violence, sexual violence, and neglect are welcomed into a safe, child focused environment and connected to advocacy, coordination, and trauma informed therapy and care. For many children, the Child Advocacy Center is the first place they are believed, supported, and protected.
