USTA Mid-Atlantic Foundation

Specific Need

USTA Mid-Atlantic is a nonprofit organization committed to promoting tennis and its physical, social, and emotional health benefits. We envision a community where tennis is accessible and available for all people to play. USTA Mid-Atlantic has wide-reaching impact. We operate leagues,  tournaments and other programs and events throughout the region for over 28,000 adult and youth members.

We support the community providers, facilities and coaches that directly deliver the sport. The many health and social benefits of tennis have made it more popular than ever. Committed to our vision of growing the game, we support community providers, coaches and schools that directly deliver the sport. We know the long lasting physical and social-emotional benefits the sport has to offer and so we work with schools to help ensure kids can be exposed to the sport while they are young. We provide training and curriculum for PE teachers and youth providers to help them create positive and supportive environments to introduce the sport broadly and in a setting that removes barriers to entry. We currently provide support to 206 PE teachers registered with us, impacting an estimated 60,637 participants. All PE programs registered with us receive a complimentary tennis equipment package (valued at $400) containing racquets, balls, and other supplies to use in their classes. In Loudoun County, we have 8 schools registered with our tennis in schools programs and with your support, you cill help us to continue to grow this important work so that all schools in both Loudoun County and the Mid-Atlantic Section can benefit from the unique benefits tennis has to offer.

In addition to our Tennis in Schools program, we run a program at three title 1 schools in Sterling called Girls Rule the Court. USTA Mid-Atlantic's Girls Rule the Court program aims to promote health, wellness, and teamwork while building self-esteem through tennis for young girls in Loudoun County. The program is currently offered at Sugarland Elementary, Sterling Elementary and Sully Elementary.
