Middleburg Montessori School

Goal: $5,000.00

Specific Need

Middleburg Montessori School helps children develop into capable individuals by focusing on their intellectual, behvioral, and emotional development while providing the highest quality teachers to facilitate this development. The Montessori approach is centered on the respect for each child's development of the intrinsic curiosity, and on fostering independence, concentration, coordination, self-confidence, and sense of order. The children work in various areas of the total curriculum, which includes practical life, sensorial, mathematics, language, geography, science, culture, and movement.

Mission

Middleburg Montessori School upholds the highest standards of Montessori education, at the heart of which is our understanding of the nature of the child. In true Montessori spirit, we are welcoming, inclusive, and diverse. By engaging our entire community – children, families, and staff – we guide the children in self-discovery, respect, compassion, and a desire to become responisble citizens of the world. Each year, we grow a little in size but are more resolute in our mission to cultivate the future's thinkers, makers, and citizens.

Providing an adequate and appropriate learning environment is essential to our community. The quality of education that our school is able to deliver in part depends on the facility that houses the school environment where the process of teaching and learning occurs.

Ultimately, a worthwhile life has significance to both the individual and society.  Your contribution will not only help support our school but will ultimately help the entire community.

Profile

Middleburg Montessori School is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, Association Montessori International (AMI) recognized, and VAIS Accredited Montessori School serving children birth through 15 years in Fauquier, Loudoun, Frederick, and Clarke Counties for over 40 years. Dr. Maria Montessori  observed that a child absorbs from the environment they are in, and using specially designed materials she was able to call to the child's inner desire to learn. An AMI trained adult presents these materials to individual children or in small groups. The independent work that follows a presentation encourages individual hands-on participation in the Primary, peer problem-solving dialogue in the Elementary, and deeper exploration and discovery in the Adolescent age groups. Control of error is built into manipulative materials and charts, encouraging self-confidence and independence. The child is allowed the freedom to be independent within the highly sequenced structure of the Montessori approach and environment.
